Location

We are located on a hillside overlooking Zipolite and a 5 minutes’ walk to the beach.

We offer a serene and tranquil atmosphere for our guests, prioritizing peace and quiet over raucous parties. The emphasis on consideration and quietness aligns well with those seeking relaxation and a peaceful retreat.

The location’s elevation and steps might be something for guests to consider, especially if they have mobility concerns. Overall, El Guayacan is a perfect spot for those looking to unwind and enjoy the views and breezes of Zipolite.

Nature is our neighbor here, so don’t be surprised if you come across small animals or insects in your room or around our common spaces. We prefer natural solutions over chemical fumigation, but if any critters bother you, please let us know. Remember to use personal repellent to keep mosquitoes at bay.

Children

The Rooms, Casitas and Casa Guayacan (main house) is an Adults Only property. No minors allowed.

At Casa Cuixe, children of all ages are welcome. Due to the architecture and location of the house we recommend no children below the age of 6.

Pets

Pets are not allowed in any of the accommodations. Our friendly house pets, though, are very happy to welcome you.

Pool

Our lap pool area is open from 7 am to 10pm. We do not have lifeguards on site, so you are using the pool at your own risk. The area has sunbeds with umbrellas and an ‘honesty’ bar.

The pool area is clothing optional so you may enjoy the area in your birthday suit. Discretion and respect prevail here too, as in all the areas of the premises. We kindly ask you not to operate drones in or over the premises and refrain from taking photographs of your fellow guests without permission.

About Zipolite

Zipolite is a small, tranquil and fairly isolated bohemian beach town located at the Southern Pacific Coast of the state of Oaxaca in Mexico. The luxury of doing nothing, enjoying naked sunbathing and the acceptance for all creatures that blossomed out of humanity make this place unique but maybe not for everyone.

The village offers an authentic Mexican experience, excellent cuisine, amazing sunsets, strong waves for surfers and a spectacular beach without high-rise buildings, all-inclusive hotels, dance bars or nightclubs. Instead, you will find cozy beach bars, unpaved streets, simple shops and a respectful mixed crowd of families, couples, nudists, whether straight or gay, and everything in between. Playa Zipolite is the most famous nude beach in Mexico and nudity is permitted, not mandatory, on the whole beach. Some hotels allow nudity in their premises. El Guayacan allows nudity at the pool area and in the private indoor and outdoor areas of your accommodation.

The surroundings

The four beach towns along the highway 175 in the Oaxacan “Costa Chica” have each a very different character.

From east to west, the first is Puerto Angel, a fishing village with little attraction other than being a starting point to excursions on the water. It offers some good seafood at the few joints on the main beach Playa Panteón. A few beaches near here are tranquil and beautiful such as Playa La Boquilla and Playa Estacahuite.

Heading west, after Zipolite comes the small beach town of San Agustinillo. The beach here has somewhat easier waves for beginner surfers and body boarders and offers some really nice restaurants if you are looking for an alternative to what Zipolite has on offer.

The last of the four is Mazunte, one of Mexicos many “Pueblos Magicos”, making it much more visited than the other three towns in this area. Here you will most probably meet most of the tattooed yogis sipping their green smoothies. A part of the healing centres and yoga studios, you will find some excellent food here, both vegan and non-vegan. Mazunte is also home of one of the highlights of the coast, Punta Cometa, the southernmost point of the State of Oaxaca. Its spectacular sunsets and natural pools are an easy hike away from the main street, Calle Rinconcito.

Activities

In Zipolite itself you will be able, a part of doing nothing, to practice world class yoga in various locations mainly in the hotels and hostels, such as the El Alquimista and the Loma Linda. Professional massage therapists offer their services and can be ordered to the privacy of your hotel.

The Pacific Coast offers ideal conditions for surfers and body boarders. However, you should be wary of the strong currents and rip tides.

Other activities include excursions by boat to visit other beaches or to see turtles, dolphins and whales, as well as fishing, scuba diving or snorkeling.

The surrounding areas offer interesting spots for all kinds of interests, including the National Mexican Turtle Center (Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga) in Mazunte (https://www.tomzap.com/turtle.html), Playa Ventanilla for birdwatching as well as crocodiles, iguanas and turtles, Laguna de Manialtepec or Laguna de Chacahua for bioluminescence and wildlife, and the Fundacion Casa Wabi (https://casawabi.org) to visit an architectural highlight and a unique artist residents center.
